The NRC Glacier Breaker celebrates the beginning of the spring paddling season in Bryson City, NC (USA). It combines both the canoe slalom and downriver disciplines in an action packed weekend for all ability levels. This year the Nantahale Racing Club started using CloudTimer for the timing, scoring and results management and we’ve received great feedback on the system.
Its everything we hoped our system would one day be but you are far closer than we ever were. We are very excited about where this is going and believe that once the system is complete it will work for all our events and races. Thanks!
— Sam Gaughan, Events Manager & NRC Executive Director
CloudTimer is currently working closely together with the NRC to develop the timing & competition management platform before it will go out of BETA. It’s also a great case for us at CloudTimer since NRC is amongst the first races using the platform stand-alone (without our presence at the competition). We therefore are very happy with the positive feedback and the value it provides to the event organisation.
We are really impressed with your system! We’ve used many systems over the years and CloudTimer has worked very well for our first slalom race of the season. Nice work! We look forward to getting more comfortable with the system and being able to integrate CloudTimer with wireless photo sensors to improve start/finish accuracy. With those integrated, I would have no hesitation recommending this system to all of the other USA competition centers. I want to congratulate you on developing such a user friendly and robust timing/scoring system.
— Lee Leibfarth, former US slalom team coach & NRC board member
The CloudTimer platform currently uses a smartphone app for time measurement and scoring. While there are many benefits of using a timing app it doesn’t have the accuracy of professional timing equipment. Therefore we’ve already (internally) used a Alge Timy integration during the 2016 racing season in the Netherlands. We are now working on integrating this within the app to make it available to everyone. The NRC will be among the first sport organisations using this new integration.
